We have our dear friend Sarayl to thank for this recommendation! We spent the morning hiking at the Garden of the Gods. Sarayl suggested Front Range Barbeque to help refuel after our morning.
Front Range is in Old Colorado City, a tiny, cute town with a bustling Main Street with tons of shopping options (true to character, we did not shop, so no reviews there). So, it makes for a great refueling spot after a hike or marathon shopping. Either way.
There’s indoor seating. There’s outdoor seating. There is music. There is beer. Kids are welcome. They welcome events. It is everything. They even, get this, have vegetarian options. At a Southern Barbeque spot! This IS Colorado, I suppose. The service was fast (maybe a tad too fast? I had a take-away box on the table while the fork was still in my hand), the food was delicious, and the ambiance was back-yard. We aren’t BBQ aficionados, so can’t do a deep dive analysis of how this compares to a certain style or region. We can say we left with one clean plate and one heaping box of leftovers.
This restaurant was also featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives and is known for the Sloppy Pig. We did not even consider trying that mountain of all the meats: Tender Smoked Pulled Pork, Grilled Polidori Kielbasa Sausage & Bacon topped with Sweet n Spicy BBQ Sauce, Cheddar Cheese, Spicy Slaw, Pickles & Onion Straws on our Toasted Sweet Potato Bun – Includes One Southern Side.
Our vote? It’s worth a stop!
