Sometimes, the vibe of a brewery is just as important as the beer they serve. We went to Bastion and sat at the bar. We were given the feeling that we were bothering the bartenders by being there. It wasn’t busy. The bar wasn’t full. There were four bartenders, none of whom were occupied. And they all gave each other the “not it” look before one came over and asked for our order.
Maybe that tempered our rating of the beer. But, we both agreed that we liked our beer. Not enough to have a second, get a growler, or come back. I wonder, though, if we had a great bartender (like the guy at Garden Path Fermentation) if we would have a different opinion.
